PETA have released a Pokémon rip off to raise awareness. Prepare your forehead for a facepalmin’, because these PETA are shite. Here’s the game.

Let’s set this straight. PETA are utter shit bags. As a company that many vegans, vegetarians, and animal rights activists support, they do more harm than good. Last year, for example, in Norfolk, VA -  of the 2050 animals they received (dogs and cats, mainly) they were able to find homes for 28 of them, 34 were transferred elsewhere, and 11 were reclaimed. They killed a staggering 1965. This is incredibly common. PETA put down the vast majority of animals they welcome in to their care. [source]

In 2008, PETA founder, Ingrid Newkirk, was asked, “Do you euthanize those pets, the adoptable ones, if you get them?” Newkirk responded, “If we get them, if we cannot find a home, absolutely.”

Perfectly happy killing healthy pets.

Amanda Schinke, a PETA spokeswoman, has stated, “Millions of homeless animals are euthanized in animal shelters and veterinary offices across America because of simple math: too many animals and not enough suitable homes.”

PETA are sitting on millions of dollars. Perhaps, they should invest their money in the welfare of animals rather than wasting it making fucking daft attempts to undermine video-games.

Last year they created an equally as elaborate Nintendo-esque flash game taking a dig at the new Mario game for promoting the wear of fur - aye, that’s what the Tanooki suit is all about. Realising that it was a dumb angle, and that they had pissed off a large amount of Mario fan-boys (myself included), PETA responded with this: ”Mario fans: Relax! PETA’s game was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, a fun way to call attention to a serious issue, that raccoon dogs are skinned alive for their fur.”

Did it though? Was that the angle that would have worked best? What if they went with “Mario wears toy animal suits! Why don’t you?” and then it’s all playful, but showing alongside it the grim reality of what the raccoon dog trade is like. It would be a strong contrasting juxtaposition between the horrid of real life, and they wickedness of animal profit.

But no PETA decided to be a cunt. Because they are cunts.

If you support PETA, you don’t support an end to animal cruelty. Simple as that. Look for another organisation to fund.
